Favorite Quotes

In a learning society, learning is a journey, not a destination, a journey with peaks and valleys, breakthroughs and letdowns, a continuous cycle of never-ending exploration, followed by a few deeper periods of mastery.

Cyborg Feeling” by Lauren D'Apuzzo
Through use of a soundscape the jacket is meant to convey the tentative public and private relationships generated between humans and the cybernetic technologies keeping them alive.

"Shelter" by Meridith Coen

This terracotta sculpture is a personal expression of refuge. A pretend fortress constructed from soft blankets and sheets becomes a home with in a home, a place where I felt protected as a child from the physical elements as well as judgment from others and myself. It is a private place that exists for the sake of imagination and creativity alone, a notion we tend to forget as we get older.

Well, at any rate, the other day she was sitting at the table drawing while I was reading a book in the living room. She had pulled out a photograph of a friend of hers and suddenly announced "I'm drawing what I see!" Need… Continue

Ten Pieces of Advice for Student Teachers [in No Particular Order].

1. Learn the students names any way you can. Have them tell you their name when they answer a question, ask a question.. when they need to use the bathroom.. Develop a seating chart with their names on it. Use it to take roll. Do whatever you can to learn their names!! The students respond so much better when they feel like they are important to you. This is just one way of letting them know they are important to you.

2. Pull together a notebook to use during your internship to house all of you… Continue
